History

In 1987, Leigh Blicher, Jim Rolin and Tomas Tucker, all alumni of One Pass Video in San Francisco, decided to pool their resources and freelance talent into a company that would provide the best video equipment with the best technical back-up in the business. With this mission, Videofax was born.
(Side note: in those days, when a production was setting up for a shoot and things were ready enough to turn the set over to the director, the term used was "Fax are ready" with fax standing in for facilities.
That's where the name came from).

Now, 35 years later, that mission has not changed but the ownership has. The industry has evolved into a new business and digital cameras have softened the line between video and film. The equipment Videofax provides now serves the commercial and motion picture industries as well as corporate, documentary, television and the online media community. The gear has grown both much bigger and much smaller, both simpler and more complex. But the task for Videofax has remained the same: to help you navigate through all the production options to find the equipment that's best suited for you and your job.

As of January 2022, Nick Schrader has taken over the business and will bring a fresh perspective and new energy while continuing the commitment to provide unparalleled service and support.
